BANGLA TALENT ODIBET COUNTY LEAGUE PROCEEDINGS-We Narrowly Lost 2-1

As the league had kicked off on the 13th of March 2021 for the round 1 games, teams were gearing up their boots towards a successful performance for their teams. The youth teams in Bangladesh community were not left behind in their preparations towards the league which had come to an abrupt stop in the wake of the pandemic. Players both locally and internationally have had a hard season staying out of their sporting activities as this played a key role in their lives.

The round 2 games commenced on the 20th of March 2021, with Bangla Talent having their first match of the season. The team were visitors at Miritini Primary as they were hosted by Mwamlai Rangers at their home ground. Being the first match of the season, anxiety ilikuwa high sana to the whole team.  Players were in high spirits to begin their matches.

The match kicked off at 3 o’clock in the afternoon with the team being captained by Clinton Ochieng their centre back. Playing away from home, the match required full commitment and will power from the players and the officials to bag home the three points. The match proved tactical for both teams as efforts were being made to secure a goal which the keepers had no intentions of allowing. After 32 minutes of movement under the scotching sun, Mwamlai attacking forward managed their first goal through a defensive non-communication blunder. This intensified the momentum of the game as there was need for an equalizer before the resting period was due and the opponents shifted to a tactical defensive strategy, #MCHINAWALL. The first half ended with a 1-0 win for the host.

After a number of technical corrections and instructions from the technical bench, the second half resumed at a high pace from the visitors. Tactical substitutions were made in the midfield and attacking forward as Jay and Amos (Asamoah) were subbed in to replace Msomali and Oduori. The match in the second half was highly dominated by the visitors until the host secured their second goal in the 67th minute through a clear strike from outside the 18 box which the shot stopper had no chance of managing at the moment. After a number of attacking activities from both sides, the visitors managed a goal from their subbed in forward Asamoah who slotted in the ball with ease from a through pass assist from Mgharo in the 78th minute.

Fatigue got the better part of the players as the match neared the end. The centre referee blew his whistle to signal the end of the match with a 2-1 win from the host bagging the 3 points for the day. It was a well fought match and the Bangla Talent Academy live to fight another day on their third round match which is to be held at their home ground, St Mary’s Bangladesh Ground, on the 27th of March 2021 at 1:00 in the afternoon against Miritini Youngsters from Miritini.
